Pigeyed sharks are a large, stout-bodied shark with a massive thick head, very short, broad, blunt snout, and small eyes. Large angular pectorals, high erect triangular first dorsal ( over three times second dorsal height ), dorsals with short rear tips, no interdorsal ridge.
There maximum length is approximately 9.2 feet, with an average size of about 6.5 to 8 feet. Size of pups at birth is about 2.4 feet long.
They have large triangular saw-edged upper teeth.
Pigeye sharks have a grayish body with white underbelly, fin tips dusky, but not strikingly marked.
These sharks feed on bottom fishes, crustaceans and molluscs.
Found in Indo-West Pacific: South Africa to Australia. East Atlantic: Nigeria. They occur in continental and insular shelves, inshore near surf line and along beaches, in depths from surface to 195.8 feet.

Apparently vivaparous ( gives birth to live young ), with yolksac placenta. Reproduction in this species has not been well studied.
Potentially harmful, but no records of attacks.
